Wirral Egg Run 2009

With only days to go now the Wirral Egg run team is preparing for the largest event ever with the full support of the council and the police the event will go ahead on the 29th March 2009 and will leave at 11am from new brighton.

The route leaves newbrighton along our predifined 20 mile route and takes about 45 mins to travel to clatterbridge.

It will follow a route through Wallasey Village Road (B5477), Leasowe Road (A551) to  Morton Cross, Hoylake Road (A553), through Meols to Hoylake,(A540) through West Kirby, Caldy, Thurstaston, Heswall turning left into Park Gate lane towards Thornton Hough and then on to Clatterbridge Hospital. It is estimated that the run will last up 3hrs from start to finish on a rolling basis. please see attached map below.

The Route
The nearside line will be designated only for event traffic until the tail end vehicle clears each stage of the event. Whilst the event is running the offside lane will be opened as normal to allow flow of on-coming traffic, however there will be no right turns from this lane for the length of the route.

All side roads on the near side will be closed by a Temporary Traffic Road Order (TTRO) to ensure the safety of the events participants.
